THE BEGINNING

Dewey International School of Applied Sciences was created in 2005 in a small house that hosted 21 pupils.   In September 2014 she moved to her own site, a quiet environment with more space, conducive for learning. Since then, the infrastructure of this new site has steadily experienced improvement which has led to an encouraging increase in student numbers (200).

OUR PREMISES

Our infrastructure contains modern classrooms from kindergarten to high school, an equipped science laboratory, an up-to-date computer laboratory, a library with books of different works of life for students from kindergarten to high school, a football pitch, a multipurpose sports court (basketball, volleyball, and badminton), a playground for primary and kindergarten and a canteen. We accept a maximum of 16 students per class which gives a teacher-student ratio of 1:5.

OUR TEACHERS

Our teachers impact students with independent learning skills by promoting a participatory approach to learning, practicing project-based learning, prompting students to think out of the box and develop metacognitive skills, encouraging student-centered learning and active learning approach while constantly practicing differentiation.

Through a persistent focus on staff development, we upgrade skills that continually improve our teaching which we can see through our students’ achievements. As a British council partner school, our staff has access to short professional development courses. Being a Cambridge professional development center, our teachers undergo the Cambridge International Diploma for Teaching and Learning (CIDTL).

HOME SCHOOL RELATIONSHIP

We promote a tripartite relationship (school-parent-student). At the beginning of the school year, the school, parents, and students define the responsibility that each of them has to play and come up with objectives and goals to be achieved by the end of the school year. Parent-teacher conferences are held every trimester to ensure that all the stakeholders are playing their part to guarantee the success of the learners.
